Tutorial - Very Easy No Sew Scarf

Ciao a tutti!
Hello everybody!

Today I'll show you my new scarf, made by me this morning, in only 10 minutes! For making it, I used some of my son's old t-shirts. Yes, you heard me, you can use old t-shirts or scrap fabric for this scarf. The other good news is it's a no-sew scarf!

Iniziamo / Let's start:

1. Choose the old t-shirts you want to use.

2. Using a dish plate make a circle on a newspaper. Bigger or smaller, it's up to you.

3. Place the pattern on the fabric and cut it. It's not important to be accurate when cut.

4. Cut the circle as a whirl, as shown below, from the outside to the inside, trying to keep the same strip's width.

5. Ecco il risultato!
5. Here is the result!

6. I raccomand to make at least 5 or 6 stripes, in different colours.

Come ne pensate, semplice vero?
What do you think, easy right?

Alla prossima! See you next time!

Tutorial: Sweet Ruffles Top

Ciao a tutti!

Hello everybody!

Today I'll do my first Tutorial! I'm so nervous! Hoping you'll excuse me if I didn't explain everything right .... so, if you have question, please ask!
My tutorial is about the restyling of 2 cotton turtle neck t-shirts.  I don't wear turtle neck, I preffer a good scarf on my neck.

Let's start:
1. Cut the turtle neck as you wanted the next shirts to be; I cut the grey one as a round neck and the white one a little more lower.

Iniziamo:

2. I've cut 2 stripes from the turtle neck and I sewed its on the t-shirt's neck.

3. Cut 2 or 3 stripes of red knit fabric of 5 cm width, bast its with elastic thread, so sew its on the t-shirt, as you wish.

4. If you wish, make a red fabric rose for your t-shirt or create a big heart for a romantic look!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial! If you decide to make something similar, I'd love to see it!

A presto!  See you soon!

Paillettes! / Sequins!

Ciao!

Quasi tutti i maglioni sono semplici, in monocolore, senza disegni complicati, come piacciono a me.

Hello everybody!

Last week I discoved an easy mode for... shinning! Just adding sequins trim on sweaters and tees. Only 2 or 3 sequins rows and the sweater becomes special, reflecting the sun light in thousand ways.
My first project was adding a sequin trim on a homemade sweater, made for me by my mom. My mom loves knit sweaters, she is able to knit while watching Tv, without watching her hands! She's gorgeous!

So, my closet is full of handmade sweaters, made simple, in one color, without strage pattern, just how I like its. Its all ready to transforming by adding sequins and other girly stuff!

The last photo taken after sewing the first sequin row. I've sewn 2 rows, but I'm thinking of adding another one, to shine a little bit more....

This project was inspired by Kristina's post.

Have a nice day!
Buona giornata!

Carmen

PS: I'm thinking of change my blog's name in "Sewing in Italy" instead of "Vintage Is Better"... What do you think, which one do you like more?

Constanta - my wonderful home city

Today I post some photos of my home city, Constanta, on the Black sea Coast, in Romania. I love my city very much and even I live in Italy from many years now, I still miss the walkings on the seashore and the sea breeze.
The photos are from Wikipedia, and are showing storical images and recent city's views.

Upcycle top / Top da riciclo

Ciao a tutti!

Buona giornata!
Carmen

Get dressed with 11 euros / Vestirsi con 11 euro

Cosa si può comprare con 11 euro? Quanti vestiti?

How many clothes can you buy with 11 euros? Non so many, maybe one, if you're lucky. But if you like sewing, you can do a lot with 11 euros. I bought some knit fabric, I've paid its 9 euros and I've spent another 2 for the polyester thread.
I choose very simple patterns to make its. I'll show better in next posts.

Have fun sewing!

Batwing top / Maniche a pipistrello

Ciao a tutti,
